Job Description

PlayMakers Repertory Company is seeking Student House Managers to begin working in late August/early September. These are paid, part-time positions for 12-15 hours a week for approximately 20 weeks between August 22 and April 29. The work weeks are:

Count:   August 23-August 27

The Cake:  September 13-October 1

Sense and Sensibility:  October 18-November 5

Dot:  November 22-December 10

A Christmas Carol:  December 12-December 17

The Christians:  February 3-March 11

Tartuffe:  February 3-March 11

Leaving Eden:  April 4-April 22

Where Did We Sit on the Bus:  April 25-April 29

 

Student House Managers will work approximately 3-4 performances a week (exact schedule to be worked out by the House Manager and based on the student’s availability). Hours are during evenings and weekends. Performances are Tuesday – Saturday at 7:30pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00pm. PRC2 also performs Sundays at 7:30pm. The Student House Manager’s shifts begin approximately 90 minutes before show time and end approximately 25 minutes after the performance ends, except during special events when additional time before or after the performances may be needed.

 

Job Requirements

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and maintaining the lobby and concessions areas before, during, and after performances

  • Providing customer service to audience members during performances

  • Working the concessions stand including taking orders, running the cash registers, and serving snacks and beverages.

  • Assisting other departments of PlayMakers as necessary for Opening Nights, special events, and other needs

  • Identifying and responding to emergencies according to emergency protocols; involving the House Manager as needed.

  • Working  flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Skills Needed:

  • Customer service (flexibility, patience, and a calm demeanor)

  • Troubleshooting and problem solving

  • Multi-tasking

  • Organization

  • Positive Attitude

  • Enthusiasm about theatre

  • Ability to be on your feet for 3-4 hours at a time.
